Imran Khan follow-up eye treatment at PIMS

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan was brought to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Tuesday for a follow-up eye treatment, hospital officials confirmed. He received his second dose of an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection and was discharged later in stable condition.

The procedure was carried out on February 24 under standard medical protocols, with a board of specialists, including a cardiologist, physician, ophthalmologist, and vitreoretinal surgeon, overseeing the treatment.

Treatment Details and Medical Assessment

Before the procedure, Imran was examined by:

  • A consultant cardiologist, who performed an echocardiography and an ECG, both of which returned normal results
  • A consultant physician
  • A specialist ophthalmology team that administered the anti-VEGF injection under microscope guidance

The procedure, described by hospital staff as a day-care surgery, was performed by consultants from PIMS and Al Shifa Eye Hospital.

Stability and Discharge

Hospital officials stated that Imran remained clinically and vitally stable before, during, and after the procedure. He was given post-treatment care instructions and follow-up advice before being discharged later the same day.

The treatment is part of an ongoing eye care regimen for the former premier, who has been receiving medical attention for vision-related concerns as advised by specialists.
