The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory forecasting rainfall with thunderstorms and isolated heavy to very heavy rain across multiple districts of Balochistan, southern Punjab, and lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) through Tuesday, urging residents to take safety precautions.

Stormy Weather Expected in Multiple Regions

According to the PMD alert, a shallow westerly wave moving across the region will bring unstable weather conditions, including strong winds, heavy showers, and the possibility of isolated hailstorms. Areas expected to be most affected include:

  • Balochistan: Quetta, Pishin, Muslim Bagh, Zhob, Ziarat, Barkhan, Sibi, Kalat
  • Southern and Coastal Balochistan: Kech, Panjgur, Washuk, Kharan, Khuzdar, Gwadar
  • Lower K-P and Southern Punjab: Several districts likely to see rain and gusty winds

The advisory also notes that weather conditions might become severe in parts of southern and coastal Balochistan as wind speeds increase alongside rainfall.

Safety Precautions Urged

Officials have advised people in the affected regions to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy storms
  • Secure loose items that could be blown away by strong winds
  • Stay indoors where possible and monitor local weather alerts

These precautions aim to reduce risks related to sudden thunderstorms, potential flooding in low-lying areas, and hazards caused by strong gusts.

Weather Pattern Beyond the Alert

The forecast follows broader seasonal weather patterns linked to late-winter storm systems entering from the west. Although the rain and storms are localized, they align with PMD’s recent forecasts of elevated rainfall activity across western and northern regions in the coming days.

For updated weather information and detailed district-level warnings, residents are encouraged to check official PMD announcements regularly.
